Tarot Runes Crystal Balls

 

Runes have existed in Northern Europe for many centuries before Christ. They were used by the ancient Vikings who were a people in touch with the Earth and in tune with nature, their Gods and spirit forces.

Part of Viking mythology is that Odin, the most revered of all the Gods. Sacrificed himself by hanging upside down for nine days and nights impaled by his own spear from the legendary yggdrasil or world tree to gain spiritual knowledge. He returned with the secrets of the runes.

The runic symbols were used for writing and magic by priests and shaman to guide the Norsemen on their travels and into battle. Both the Saxons and the Celts are known to have used runes for shamanistic purposes and they are used today as a tool for prophecy and guidance. Crystal balls have a long history and reputation for mystical power Celtic Druids are reputed to have used crystals in divination many seers, wizards,  gypsies, fortune tellers, and all other types of diviners also used crystals to "see" into the past, present, or future also known as "scrying,"  images are seen in crystals, and interpreted by the seer.

Crystal Balls are tricky things to make and are made from high quality optical glass.Because the ball must be flawless many have to be Discarded after production. The larger the ball the more likely a flaw can develop, hence the larger sizes are dis-proportionately more expensive.   Nothing is credited with the magical power of divination more than the humble Crystal Ball.  The picture of the fortune telling gypsy gazing in to the ball and foretelling your future is only one aspect of this pure symbolic item. It is referred to in the legend of King Arthur, who sought out the advice and prophecies of Merlin the Magician via his crystal ball.
