 Unusual Fairy art greeting cards by local fantasy  artist Kate Monkman

Kate Monkman artists statement - I've always loved faeries & folklore but my real obsession came about after I discovered the work of Faery artist Brian Froud & fell in love with his beautiful paintings & Quirky books. After studying art at Yorkshire coast college I went on to  gain a degree in Fashion & textiles from Liverpool John Moores, Even though the Fashion world proved not to be for me the design & illustration background helped me a lot in my paintings, another big inspiration is the book  'The Art of Faery' by David Riche,Its a collection of artwork by faerie artists from all over the world. I find Inspiration for my work from lots of different places, The Natural world is always inspiring, but so is music, Fantasy books, I love the work of Marrion Zimmer bradley & Jack Vance, Folk legends & even people!
I nearly always use Watercolours for my work as I think the see through aspect perfectly captures the  Ethereal Magical quality of faery, hope you enjoy my work.
